Queensland Rovers supported by Brownsea Water Activities Center has acquired two sailboats with cabins. These will be used to run overnight expeditions on Moreton Bay.
These vessels will be the first in Queensland to allow our youth members (aged 14 -26) to organise sailing-based overnight adventurous journeys, providing opportunities to captain and crew larger sailboats, develop skills in chart plotting, radio communication, passage sailing, anchorages, and striking camp on a boat. This greatly increases our scope to provide unique sailing experiences to young people and the distance we can cover, such as overnight expeditions to Moreton Island or the Gold Coast.
This resource will be managed by those participating in the youth program, making overnight sailing adventures available for all members of Scouting, at a significantly lower price than commercial courses or experiences, creating a more accessible program.
